Agencies
Agencies don’t always have to employ you to work with you;
you can freelance or be represented by an agency, this means they have picked
you especially for your distinctive style, but if are employed by an agency
more than likely they want you to work in their house style. There are broad
ranges of agencies that specify in different areas of work.
BBH - Bartle Bogle and Hegarty, Is a British Design agency
founded by Jon Bartle, Nigel Bogle and Sir John Hegarty in 1982, but has spread
worldwide. Over the past 30 years they have been responsible for some of the
worlds most well known brands advertising campaigns. The company is a big
success and has seven offices worldwide. They have done work for companies such
as Lynxs, Vodafone and British airways.
I watched this advert about the
London Paralympics, it’s a very plain advert, and although it had the most
impact out of all the ones I watched. It is a plain black screen all the way
through, it’s in a different language so the subtitles at the bottom and it’s
people encouraging and cheering someone running. Then after everyone cheers
more loudly due to them crossing the line in record time, “I can’t see the
world” shows up then the next one says, “So I will make the world see me”. The
fact it’s so stripped back and straight to the point, and how you can’t see
anything, only hear the voices but it’s so effective, as it’s someone blind
racing it is relevant has major impact to the audience. It makes you want to be
a part of something so inspiring, to go see the Paralympics yourself and watch
great athletes get medals and compete against one another, as they have
achieved so much already on just being there.
Saatchi & Saatchi is another very successful agency as
it has 140 offices worldwide and was founded in 1970. They have created many
famous political advertisements and did a lot of campaigns.
They helped create advertisement for
the launch of EE, new phone network, they used Kevin Bacon, as he has been in
in many films and is Hollywood famous, ‘the most connected man in the
universe’, he walked through the advert and talks about how things link to one
another foreshadowing new technology and how the phone by the new brand EE can
allow you to connect with a variety of things like social and digital elements
such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Also saying you can connect by using
your phone not just for mobile use, can stream TV and watch films but be linked
up to your own television set at home. That goes back to him saying
everything’s connected.
Media Design specialises in media buying and planning, providing long and short term marketing campaigns including design, print, and production on all items required. Media Design likes to build a great relationship with their clients, providing access to talented and creative people.
Début art have successfully taking briefs worldwide from major
companies. The agency deals with contemporary image-makers and clients who
sought original progressive and commercially successful media material.

worldwide
Pearlfisher is an independent design business, and believes
a great design creates a change for the better; it solves problems, connects,
seduces and transforms. Pearlfisher has clients from around the world and aim
to have creative and commercial success.
I also found a site that had the top 50 award winning advertising
marketing agencies, I thought was useful as I was able to see what other
companies are responsible for adverting and loads of different successful
agencies that are responsible for so many well-known advertisements. Plus it
was good to look, as I didn’t know many agencies before hand.
Personally I would want to be represented by a company/agency,
as I think it would foreshadow to my clients I have experience in the field of
work and be more efficient than representing myself, shows more commitment in
my opinion especially if you are just starting out. As working with an agency can help you work
out cost of work, and help you financially. I want to be taking seriously with
my work, and not work for cheap labour. I would want to be recognised and acknowledged
for the work I produce, I think many other designers would appreciate and
understand, as why wouldn’t you want to be praised for you own work. But I
would want to also be known for my own style too but actually wouldn’t mind
using in house design work. I want my work to appeal to the right audiences,
and serve it’s purpose, as been able to express your own style too it will give
you the chance to encounter more clients.
I think I would just much more prefer the satiability of a secure job
and working with others and being apart of a team than to freelance, but may
change my mind after a few year experiences working with an agency or work for
a small agency and have freelance available as an option too.
